However, Tap on Phone is currently available only on Android smartphones that are Google compatible, with Android version 7.1 or later and near-field communication (NFC) technology.

Tap on Phone allows your customers to tap their contactless cards on the back of your phone to pay for transactions. Transactions above the cardholder verification limit will require the cardholder to enter their Card PIN which they can safely do on the mPress app on your phone.

If your phone has software that enables apps to access information that is typed into the phone, you will not be able to process PIN-on- phone transactions. If you want to accept these transactions, you must disable this accessibility service software on your phone.

Tap on phone requires extra security checks to be made on the phone each time you log in - these extra checks are being run when you see the initialisation timer.

Tap on phone and Masterpass functionality is developed on these versions  to support compliance and security.

All Mastercard,Visa and  American Express® cards can be accepted.

For tap on phone, you can now accept contactless transactions above the cardholder verification limit - the cardholder can safely enter their Card PIN on the mPress app on your phone

Contactless transactions above the cardholder verification limit requires the cardholder to enter their card PIN. Tap on phone has been updated to enable the cardholder to enter their card PIN safely on the PocketPOS app. This means that you are now no longer limited to accepting transactions below R500 and can accept payment for any amount.

Tap on phone has gone through security and compliance testing and the mPess app is a certified, secure app. It is safe for the cardholder to enter their card PIN in the mPress app when asked to do so. The PIN is encrypted and is not accessible by anyone.

Accessibility services monitor data entry on your phone. That means that a cardholder may not securely enter their PIN on a phone that has an accessibility service running. Tap on phone security will prevent the PIN on phone entry if an active accessibility service is found on the phone, and will try to advise the name of the accessibility service that needs to be disabled or uninstalled. In this example, the AntiVirus app on the phone must be disabled. Please go to your phone’s settings, select Accessibility, scroll down to the bottom, choose Services, and then go to AntiVirus ON and change it to OFF.

You will see this message if an Accessibility service is running on the phone and tap on phone cannot identify it. Please go to your phone’s settings, select Accessibility, scroll down to the bottom, choose Services that are active and disable any service that is marked ON.
